Why this blog? And why now?

The most difficult question to answer is - why this blog? What prompted us to launch this blog? Why after so many years of social media presence restricted to business trading sites, are we going down this way?
We completed 25 years last year, and like any other enterprise, this is a major milestone for us. It is when people turn 30 or 50.
Because it at 30, when you can truly turn back to look upon your life, when your youth is behind you and you are transferred from being the "energetic lot" to "the experienced lot".
It is true - check out this link in today's Economic Times - Why venture capital firms are backing start ups under 30?
At 50, in a person's life, you look behind mostly to marvel or grieve a life well lived or not! And to re evaluate your goals for the coming years - where they change drastically from work to personal, from commitments to relaxation.
Similarly, for us, 25 years - a relatively young age, but not the teenage years anymore. A milestone, where we look back to see how the journey has shaped up and how it has shaped us. A hard look to re-focus on the core, to identify areas of improvement and to applaud achievements, to look around at members who have been with us since the beginning, to thank them and to welcome new members by introducing them to the company's history and future dreams.

In these 25 years, diversification has been a major focus - from injection molding, to PVC welding to blister forming to pipe extrusion and the bold step of entering screwdriver manufacturing. It has also seen the company move out of local client base to reach a global customer base.

These 25 years, we were aggressive, we were new, we were energetic - we wanted to conquer. We were willing to do whatever was necessary to get the job done. Ours was a B2B model. We were focusing on auto and engineering companies, soon pharma and food came into the fold.

You would think after 25 years of being one of the few companies with so many processed under one roof would have satiated our desire for conquering. It hasn't!
The only difference we experienced is - we do not want to conquer anymore - we want to Win over our customers. that is what they mean by experience, i guess.
Over the years we have realized quality and service beats a fancy marketing presentation hands down. That a prompt and attentive response is remembered, not the ppt you made, that customers we got through word of mouth are to be valued and cherished.
Over this time frame, not only have our operations changed and increased to cater to more processes, but our customers have also diversified, through various sectors but also retail customers. The end user of our products has been in direct contact with us - especially with our range of screwdrivers, tent stakes, barbecue sets and cupcake trays and we have realized that this customer is a completely different ball game , where no rules of a business to business transaction apply. This customer is a complex, opinionated being and the journey henceforth is only going to be interesting!

And now that we go into newer regions and customer groups, i hope this blog becomes a way to get all the people we interact with, to understand us - our history, our dreams for the future and achieve them with us.
